One of* There are a few very dark blue metallic paints that Audi uses, and they are very close in ranking to me.

One of my coworkers is color blind to blue. We work on a few Nogaro Audis. I feel bad for him.

It's not my favorite, but I don't hate it. In fact, I kinda like it...

I'm sorry, but as usual, you are wrong.

It's true, but I like dark blue on big sedans like an a8 or a6. For a sports car though...hard to beat bright blue!

That is literally the worst punishment ever conceived.

Real talk; The R8 is the last Mid-Engine manual supercar. it won't have it for much longer, but it still has it right now. And it's still only ~$100k new. I've seen used ones go down as far as $70k. This at a time when it's competitors are charging $200-300k for pretty much the same thing. And none of them offer a manual...
We're looking at another Ford GT situation here. If you can't buy one now, you ain't gonna.

Sure, if you exclude all BMW blues.
Laguna Seca Blue:
Yas Marina Blue:
Estoril Blue:
Monte Carlo Blue:
San Marino Blue:
And of course Atlantis Blue and Atlantic Blue, which are in fact very different.

True, but once you give it moar gold wheels, 555 blue IS the bestest blue.

M hmmmm, yes.

Hey now. As someone who used to drive an STI, blue two-tone interiors are the shit. I'd maybe not combine it with the same exterior color, but whatever.
Now the WORST is getting a blue car with a red interior. People on the BMW forums called it the "superman scheme"

I'm sorry, I thought I heard some punk ass motherfucker say that Sepang wasn't the best?
That couldn't possibly be right.

I love it but don't think values will shoot up like the GT
Audi made more R8s than Ford did the GT
And sadly a lot of people don't care about the gated shifter. They will be looking for deals on the DCT version of the R8
![]() 02/10/2015 at 11:12 |

Its true; the basketball players and hedge fund kiddies living off mommy and daddy's money won't care that you can't get a manual R8 anymore 10 years from now, and that's gonna screw people like us over hardcore. Collectors will try for 50%-75% over MSRP once the population goes down a bit. Once they get their way...game over man.

I can maybe get one next year if I swear off marriage and kids until I'm in my 40s
*totally worth it*

Personally, I prefer Sepang Blue.

I need to see both in person as I have not seen Nogaro in person (due to how rare it is)
Sepang Blue is definitely great in person

I can accept that.

You should buy a used R8 V8 in Sepang Blue to use as your beater car

Can confirm. Saw a gentleman driving in traffic this week with an R8 V10 in that color, had to wipe the drool from my face.

It truly is a stunning color.

That doesn't sound like too bad of an idea. Do you know how reliability is?
![]() 03/13/2015 at 02:02 |
|
Based on what I've read they are very, very reliable.
The only two annoyances are I've read about are:
A) that you get some carbon build up from the direct injection that has to be cleaned out a lot more frequently than a DFI 911. But it's worth the cost for this car. It would be more annoying on an S5 that is worth less than half the value of this car.
B) the air conditioning goes out after a while and the part that needs to be replaced takes a lot of labor to get to.
All in all those aren't bad for a mid engine near-exotic. The engine itself and the transmissions are reliable. Some of the guys on the Audi R8 forums claim that even the initial single clutch paddle shift transmission is crazy reliable, which people don't say about the old Ferrari F1 or BMW SMG transmissions. Even the clutch on that box lasts way longer than normal for this kind of transmission.

Interesting. Those aren't terrible issues at all.
![]() 03/13/2015 at 13:23 |
|
Exactly. Compared to a Ferrari F355 with the F1 box the R8 is as reliable and cheap to run as a Honda Accord, haha
Can you please see this comment and let this person know what you think of his idea to stick a 4 cylinder engine in the R8 and sell it for less than $100K?
